Professional Blog Post

The Today show filmed this news package to show American citizens how landlords are struggling to keep their residents online packages during this holiday season. To start this news package Gabe Gutierrez opened it up by using a standup of him standing in a room of packages. The video then went into the news package starting with a voice over. One of my favorite parts of this package was the animation that showed how online shopping has increased boxes delivered to apartments by 50% which causes 10 minutes of lost productivity for their workers, and that time adds up to more than 3 million dollars a year. I should add in different animations in my work because it varies up the shots viewers see and captures their attention. I learned why and how to use stand ups in news packages earlier in the year, and I should apply more stand-ups into my news packages. Gutierrez also used the six shot sequence, however he had a lot more zooming and panning that made the shots more interesting. I think the last interview piece that was filmed could have been set up better. There is a lot of head space above the women head because Gabe Gutierrez is a lot taller, so a good solution would be to sit both of them down. Overall I believe watching different news packages will help me develop videography skills and give me ideas for future packages. Source Cited: Gutierrez, Gabe. Barbara Walters Most Interesting People

Summary

This video was about the "10 most interesting people", with the host Barbara Walters. It began talking about each person's background, also went on to more personal projects associated with that person. Finally, it would move on to more of their accomplishments and how they achieved those things.

The stories were told about other people's lives. It was set up in an interview form, with the host asking questions, and also clips and pictures from that person's past.

Application

I like how the interviews were set up, and how the clips used helped tell the story of how that person rose to fame. I think I could apply the interview set up to my own work, it seemed to work very well and it was an effective way to help tell the story. I have already learned how to set up a story like this, and also know how to do the voiceovers that were used throughout some of the pictures and videos to describe what was going on.

Overall

I think that the producers did a very good job telling the stories over the different people's lives, and successfully showed why these people deserved to be on the "Top 10 Most Interesting People" list. I think they could've gone even more in depth in telling people's stories, each person I think could've been analyzed more, to show even more of the things that they had accomplished. Overall, I didn't really agree with who was on the list of Top 10 people, because some of them weren't that interesting, and didn't really deserve to have made that list. But they did a good job telling the story of how those people rose to success.

HC Vlog

This is a homecoming vlog I made over the course of homecoming week, including the powder puff game and the pep assemblies. I decided to do it because it seemed like a fun and interesting package that the student body would enjoy and because we had a show everyday of the week for homecoming week. Libbie and I filmed the footage used over the course of the whole week and we edited it in one day. I think the outcome of this project was really good and our footage went together nicely and it was a really fun project. I learned how to use the go pro and put it to use in this video.

Culinary

This project is a package over the culinary class here at ONW. I decided to do it because we were planning on doing consecutive stories over ONW A-Z and baking/ culinary was going to be the B and C for the segment. This project took us ! day to film B-roll, 1 day to interview, and 1 day to edit. I think the outcome of the package turned out pretty well. Our B- roll showed the process on cooking in order and we had a lot of good artsy looking shots. I learned that for an interview it's best to have the person you are interviewing sitting down.

Locker Shortage

The scope of this project was to create a package about how the 2015-16 school year had a shortage of lockers to be given out to students in the beginning of the year. For this video I executed the 6 shot system as well as the rule of thirds. Our package has a beginning middle and end. If I could do this differently I would have tried to get more b roll. Over all I think this was a well put together package and it told a story as well as informed the audience.

Airball Short Film FINAL

Project Scope and Process
The scope of this project was to create a short film incorporating a water bottle, a hat, a lights out reference, and an intentional source of light. The process for creating this video was we first wrote a script on celtix. Then we created story boards including the shots we plan to use, the angles, and a description of what will be said. We used  a story that we had already put together for a previous project so pre production wasn't so time consuming. For the actual production of the project we worked for about a week filming the story. We used a wide range of shots but mainly just one location in the main gym. During post production we edited the film and this took a total of about two days. I added music to many scenes to avoid awkward sciences and also had to cut many of my shots down to make the video. Audio was probably the hardest thing for me to edit.
Variety of shots we had to choose from.
What I Learned/ How I will Improve and Keep the Same
Music I added to my video from YouTube.
Throughout this process I learned how to add music into my movie from youtube and I also learned that a tripod is not useful for all shots. Professionally I learned it is important to make a time management and production schedule so you stay on task. I also learned to be more open with listening to other peoples ideas because they can often times be helpful. If I were to do this differently I would pick a more accessible location to be our main setting. I would also try to get more shots including audio and conversation to make the final video easier to understand and follow. Things I would keep the same would be the teamwork methods we used to finish the project in time as well as the number of shots we decided to take. We had a wide variety of angles and shots to choose from in the end which made final editing easier.

Experiences I Picked Up and Conclusion
From this project I learned to really be strict about your project timeline and stick to it. I also learned to choose a film that you know will be easy to make in the time given. I will be able to use this skills later in my film making career. In conclusion I did enjoy doing this project. Originally I had a different idea of how it would turn out but I'm not completely disappointed in it. I was late with my editing because I missed a day and that hurt me in the end but overall I think it was a decent video given the circumstances of the gym always being unavailable and my shortened time for editing.

Carton FINAL Stella Dolls

This project was to create a box template of our carton. We had to crete a product that has multiple uses. We created a barbie like product with dolls who will be set in a box that doubles as a runway. This product was time consuming but over all it was pretty fun. I had trouble finding the right carton measurments but we found a website with the right design. This project was interesting and I enjoyed it. We worked well together and we al pitched in. We each had a job to work on until the full product came together. We each respected each other and our work and it turned out great.

This is the front of our carton. We stuck to our color theme and we put our logo at the top. We left a white box in the center to resemble the clear plastic that will go there so you can display the barbie inside. We used stars on the sides of the box to add add a design to the front.

This is the back of our box. We put a picture of the "Stella Dolls" on it as well as put the name in our font on the top. We also added the stars in the background. We see the dolls as the focal point of the back of the box, and put our dolls name up at the center top of the box.

This is the left side of our box. here we have a description of the dolls all down the side as well as a barcode at the bottom, used for scanning the product. In the top left corner we stuck our label on it just to continue to have our label seen by the customer to eventually brand our product better.

This is the right side of our box. We put our logo on it once again and we put pictures of high heels and purses on it to add a fun look. The fashion pieces also back up the idea of the fashion themed dolls.

This is the bottom of our box where we have a QR code t the bottom of the box for scanning by customers.

This is our color palate and our logo design page. We stuck to the same color and varied shades of it. We used a pink color ranging from a hot pink all the way down to a soft light pink. We incorporated all the colors in our package. These color shades were a really good contrast with each other for the box.
