Postcards

These are the three postcard I created using photoshop. I made one regarding myself, one about christmas, and one Hawaii postcard. I used the pen tool, the quick selection tool, and explored paths and layers with all these post cards. This was difficult at first but after you got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad. I struggled with the pen tool but I have a better understanding of it now. Overall this projects were challenging but fun.

Don't stop building LEGOS until your fingers BLEED

For this project I followed Olivia Contractor and her experience at the Olathe Northwest blood drive. I filmed and edited this video. I explored audio in this piece by picking up sound bites from interviews and nat noise. I also recorded voice overs to put in this project. J and L edits were a new thing we were introduced to during this assignment and I tried to utilize them in the editing project. My team for this production was Kit Walters and Wyatt Fowler. We assisted each other in the filming of this video. As a class we learned a bit about audio and J and L edits before we started the project. The day of the Blood Drive were sort of just thrown in and then from there we were told to follow one person and basically the rest was up to us. This turned into a journalism piece for me which I created in the same light as a news segment. During this project I learned that when filming a video you will be using audio heavily you need to make sure you pick up good sound bites and many of them, this way you have a range of audio to choose from. I also learned that as an interviewer you need to ask thourough and thought provoking questions where you will get a good response. Next time I would like to take a better variety of shots so I have a more interesting video. I liked how I got generally good responses from my subjects so I wouldn't change that. Overall I really enjoyed this project and just any journalism project in general. I would like to do more of these and get better!

In this project I filmed Saif and Bryce Lundgren as they build a Star Wars ship out of legos. I interviewed them during the process and the goal was to pick up sound bites from the interview questions and from natural noise, much like the blood drive assignment. However I didn't create this video as a journalism piece it was more so just a question and answer interview. I also recorded voice overs that I used in this video. Before filming we learned about editing with J and L edits and also how to use the cameras to receive audio. My team for this video was Saif and Bryce. We each had to build the ship and also film. During this I learned it's important to hold the camera as steady as possible to get good shots. I also learned to ask meaningful questions as the interviewer so that you get a good response, much like in the blood drive video. Next time I would ask better questions and take better shots. I liked my CU shots so I would keep those in a future video. Overall I didn't like this project as much as the blood drive one and I didn't really understand the project as well.

Lego

The scope of this project was to create a video focusing on soundbites and j and l edits. First we got put into a group and then were asked to build a star wars lego ship, while one person films and interviews while trying to pick up sound bites. I learned that it's essential to speak clearly and loudly as well as to ask meaningful questions where you will receive a good response. If I were to do this again I would speak louder and ask them better questions and more frequently. My final thoughts on this video are that I think I did well filming but I could definitely have gotten better sound bites and I still need to work on my j and l edits. Overall I was not extremely pleased with how this video turned out but I did my best with what I had.

Blood Drive

The scope of this project was to create an interview video focusing on sound bites and j and l edits. First we understood how to use audio with our cameras and how to edit it in final cut. I learned that it's important to get clear sound bites and when interviewing ask meaningful questions where you will get a thorough response and also to speak loudly and clearly. If I were to do this again I would ask better interview questions and try to get clearer sound bites. My final thoughts on the video are that I think I did pretty well for men first interview type story line but I could have had better audio and better j and l edits. Overall I'm satisfyed with how my video turned out.

Shdow Post

Improved mountain

This is the floating mountain project where i created a mountain in the middle of the sky using photoshop. I added a moon in the background an put my name and the title. I moved a cloud forward to really give the illusion of a cloud floating. The project was to create a floating mountain and add your own touch to it. The process was to use the tutorial provided using photoshop and then post to your blog. I learned that I prefer illustrator over photoshop when creating a big project. Next time I would spend more time perfecting it. I think this was a pretty good project not too hard which was good.

SAIL into Possession

This is a video I made for my video class. The scope of the project was to create a 90 second music video using the 6 shot sequence and using the beats of the music. First we chose a song we wanted to use and created a storyboard. I learned that it's important to really know what you want as a group before you decide to start the project. Zach Clay did not agree with our project. If I were to do this again I would choose to do a different plot and try to take more useful shots. My final thoughts on the video were that we did a good job of working with what we had but I definitely think we could have executed it better and taken more time to make the final result better.

Floating Moutain

This is the floating mouton I created in Photoshop. It wasn't too difficult but I do not like photoshop. I learned here how to use pixel and image size to my advantage when creating projects in photoshop or the adobe suite.

Red Sphere

I created this sphere with photoshop.
I do not like photo shop as much and I do not think my sphere looks as three dimensional as the adobe one.

This is the red sphere I created with adobe illustrator. I like illustrator and I'm proud of how this turned out. I learned that the black space needs to be closest to the object to give it a shadow effect.

Name Logo tutorial

For this logo I used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k2Rwftrgzs this tutorial to teach me how to use/ make a unique shape. This logo I feel really shows my personality and then the font I used compliments the shape nicely. It's a very fun and exciting logo that catches your eye and that is what I was going for. I stuck to a simple color scheme though so the viewer wouldn't be overwhelmed.

Name logo

These are two logos that I created. One of them takes on a more simple shape with a more complex design within. The second one has a more complex shape but a very simple color and design. I like them both for different reasons.

Google Logo

The google logo is a simple yet very vesratile logo with many meanings. The logo uses a very clean and simple font and a range of primary colors to give a relatable feel. The logo itself has a very welcoming and universal feel to it. Google also welcomes ideas and changes it's logo for multiple occasions which is a positive thing for many people who view the logo. It keeps things interesting.

The Chase

This is my chase video that I did for my video class. Kit Walters stars as I film. The video was about a girl running from something out of school in a chase like fashion. I started the project by talking with my partner on what we wanted to do than we storyboarded our ideas. We spent one hour collaborating, one hour filming, and one hour editing. During this film I learned how to collect a varied amount of shots in a certain amount of time. I also learned some new editing techniques with final cut. If I could do something differently I would take better shots and be more careful about getting a better shot. I would keep the storyline we had because I liked it. For my next project I will take more time and be more careful. I enjoyed this project and I wouldn't mind doing it again.

10 Shot Sequence- Late for Tennis

This assignment was to create a 10 shot sequence video about going somewhere. This video stars Wyatt Fowler and was created by myself. The shots we were given to use are close up, medium, extreme wide, point of view (POV), over the shoulder (OTS), and wide. Medium shots are from the waist up. Close up shots are from shoulders up and extreme close up is just the face or very close to the object. Extreme wide is showing main object as well as the whole background and wide is showing the whole main object with little background. A POV shot is from the point of view of the main object and an over the shoulder shot is from over the shoulder of the main object. From this project I learned how to further use final cut and I learned how to make my camera shots better by using camera settings.

What is Graphic Design?

Graphic Design is expressing yourself. Graphing Design is all about finding a way to connect the consumer to the product with no words at all. Graphic Design effects everything you do in life. Without Graphic Design there would be no personalization, no emotional connections, and no sentimental moments. Graphic design is everywhere.
